Gökova Akyaka Pictures
When you look towards the sea while descending the Sakar slope on the Muğla-Marmaris road, you will see the world’s largest Monet painting. Below, fields separated from each other with different tones, a river passing through them, colorful trees, and a wide plain extending to the sea with flowers. Restaurants set up by the river almost tempt you to eat fish. Don’t forget the share of ducks in the river.
Gökova Village welcomes you with its warm atmosphere, preserving its traditional structure despite the luxury villas around it. Gökova Bay is the most preferred route of the blue cruise. The most pleasant bays of this route lie between Karacasöğüt and Bördübet bay.
These bays are respectively Karacasöğüt, Okluk Bay (the entrance to the bay where the summer house built during the time of President Özal and still used is closed to the public), English Harbour, Löngöz, Yedi Adalar, Güçlük Harbor and Bördübet Bay. There are other large and small bays among these bays, but there is no transportation.
If your vehicle does not have a low bottom or if you have an off-road vehicle, try driving along this dirt road. Akyaka.. It is impossible not to admire the houses here. These houses, almost all of which are two-storeys maximum, built mostly of Ottoman style wood, invite you to a small journey in history with their wooden ceiling workmanship and antique doors…
