It is understood from the inscription on the Süleyman Tower that it was built in 1536 during the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Kununi Sultan Süleyman. The name of the tower at that time was Silahlı Ayas Castle. There are historical rock tombs on the cliffs below the restored tower.
