Ölüdeniz, the place where paragliding was first practiced in Turkey, is world famous. The region, whose unique nature, sun and sea fascinate thousands of local and foreign tourists every year, is suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities. Boat tours in the surrounding area also attract attention. Babadağ is preferred as a trekking and camping area in summer and winter. Located within the borders of Fethiye, Babadağ is 7 km inland from the seashore.

It rises right behind Ölüdeniz beach and faces south. The take-off runway can be reached from Ölüdeniz via a 45-minute stabilized but relatively smooth road. There are three tracks in total in Babadağ. The 1700 meter south runway is very suitable for takeoff. The 1800-meter northern runway is a bit small and steep. The take-off area of the 1900 meter north summit runway is quite comfortable.

Generally, the 1700-meter runway is generally flown here because it receives a headwind from the south for most of the day. Belcekız beach on the Ölüdeniz coast is a very comfortable and safe landing area with its long and wide width.

PARAGLIDING

Having a holiday in Ölüdeniz, which still preserves its dreamland nature, now means much more than just lying on the beach or by the swimming pool. Thanks to the Paragliding activity, you can watch Ölüdeniz, a natural wonder, slowly descending from a height of 1969 meters. From this height, you can see not only Patara Beach and Dalaman, but even Rhodes on a clear day.

Agencies that organize paragliding can be found on the Ölüdeniz coast. Reservations can be made a day in advance or in the morning. Before the flight, accompanied by experienced pilots, theoretical and practical training is received in the morning. The flight point, which is at an altitude of 1700 meters, is reached by jeeps. The 25 km dirt and bumpy road takes 50 minutes. If the wind is not enough at 1700 meters, we go up to 1900 meters.

Overalls and helmets are put on, you sit on the harness attached to the pilot and the parachute, the parachutes inflate as the pilot pulls the parachute, you run a few steps, open, rise and fly. There is great excitement at first, but soon the excitement gives way to great pleasure accompanied by the insatiable views of Ayanikola Island, Ölüdeniz, Gemile Bay and Kumburnu.

Don’t forget to take a camera or video camera with you to capture the extraordinary experience you had and this unique view. Of course, it is preferred to have sneakers on your feet, shorts and a t-shirt.
