Blue Cruise with traditional gulet yachts

Blue Voyage with traditional gulet yachts is a type of holiday unique to the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. Those who want to explore natural wonder bays and spend a different holiday in touch with the sea, nature and history prefer the Blue Cruise….

Blue Cruise is a type of tourism unique to our country. The dazzling bays along the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, hidden paradises that you can only reach by sea, the hospitality of the Anatolian people, unique ancient cities and of course the pleasure of being on the sea are the main factors that make the Blue Voyage special. There is a very interesting story about the emergence of Blue Tours, which have been held for over 50 years. The beginning of the Blue Voyage is based on Cevat Şakir’s being sentenced to “kaleidoscope” for 3 years in Bodrum due to a story. Seeing that Cevat Şakir’s life in Bodrum has turned into more pleasure than punishment in a short time, the authorities invite him back to Istanbul. Cevat Şakir, who completed the last half of his sentence in Istanbul, settled in Bodrum and lived here for 25 years. Cevat Şakir, who used the pseudonym “Halicarnassus Fisher” inspired by the name of Bodrum in the Carian period in his articles during this period, has made a great contribution to the development of Bodrum and its current reputation.

Brief History of Blue Voyage

Halikarnas Fisherman, with his friends Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu and humanist intellectuals such as Azra Erhat, begins to make short trips to Gökova for a few days with small fisherman or sponge boats. These tours have been continuing since the mid-1950s, with the participation of an increasing number of people every year. The “Blue Voyage”, which was previously made under modest conditions, is named after these first passengers who chose a place to strengthen their friendship with the sea.

The tours, which have attracted more and more attention every year since the 1950s, have been carried out with gulet yachts from the very beginning. The gulets, which can host groups with a maximum of 14-16 people, are the products of the world-famous traditional wood and handicraft. Originally built for fish and sponge hunters, yachts went through a long process until they became modern and comfortable today. Although Gulets are known as motor yachts, they also sail. There is a very large sunbathing area in the front section. The middle area is divided into a closed lounge with bar, kitchen, sitting group and dining tables. At the stern, there is the dining table covered with awning, the seating group and the open area with the rudder, and the cabins are located at the bottom.

Those who participate in Blue Tours start the day with the first lights of the morning. The day starts with swimming and then breakfast, after a few hours of cruise, it continues with trekking and archaeological tours included in the program. If such walks are not for you, you can stay on the yacht and read a book or sunbathe. Those who like to be more active can participate in water sports activities such as swimming, rowing, diving, fishing, jet-skiing or waterskiing.

The best time to go on a Blue Cruise is between April and November. The blue cruise route covers an area of approximately 350 nautical miles from Kuşadası to Antalya. The curved coasts increase the distance covered, but it is not possible to say that the guests are not satisfied with this. During the journey, around each cape stretches a new bay, a small village or an ancient city …

You can choose the most suitable one for you from dozens of different routes, or you can choose the custom tour option and choose the route yourself. When you follow a classic route from Bodrum, you first encounter the deserted bays of the Gulluk Bay at the northern end of the Bodrum peninsula. Only a few kilometers inland from Gulluk Bay are ancient Didim ruins and Iasos. When traveling from Bodrum to the southeast, there is the Gulf of Gokova, which is more popular than Gulluk. Dozens of coves of Gökova offer incredible beauty to their visitors. The ancient city of Keramos built on an island is famous for its ruins.

There are hundreds of bays and islands that can be explored in the Hisarönü Bay below the Datça Peninsula. There are magnificent hotels and a marina in the wide bays of Marmaris, which can be reached after Hisaronu.

The coast stretching from Marmaris to Antalya reveals extraordinary beauties. Iztuzu beach, where the last nesting place of Caretta Caretta turtles, protects the lush Dalyan. The next stop after the ancient Kaunos ruins is Göcek Village and Fethiye Harbor. The pebbly beach of the Dead Sea in the south of Fethiye is home to unprecedented beauties. Visitors to Kalkan and Kaş, which are small villages, have the chance to see the sunken city and the Ottoman Castle.
