
Kocain Cave natural history with its monumental stalactites and stalagmites; It is one of the most important caves reflecting the history and archeology of Antalya and its surroundings with its prehistoric finds and readable inscriptions. Archaeological research in the cave, which was first discovered in 1919, was carried out at various times after 1946 by Prof. from Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography, Department of Prehistory. Dr. I. Made by Kılıç Kökten. His first research on speleology was conducted by Dr. in 1972. It was carried out by Temuçin Aygen’s team and French cavers. The entrance of the cave, which is a natural wonder with its giant stalactites, stalagmites and snow-white formations, is approximately 20 meters high and 75 meters wide. Its length is 633 meters and it consists of two large halls, with a ceiling height of up to 80 meters in some places. It is understood from the readable inscriptions of the cave, which sheds light on the archeology of the region from the prehistoric period to the Byzantine period, that it also had a religious function in the early Christian period.
The cave is open to visitors and entrance is free.
