Orhaniye is only 2.5 km away from Turgut. The road splits into two after Turgut. You need to keep right for Orhaniye and left for Selimiye. One of the most important tourism centers on the coast of Hisarönü Gulf is Orhaniye. Yachts coming to Hisarönü Bay always spend the night in Orhaniye. The sea in Orhaniye is always as smooth as a sheet. The color of the surrounding pine forest hit the water, giving the sea a color unique to this place.
The environment is so calm that when you immerse yourself in the water, you hear nothing but the sound you make while swimming.
HAVE YOU EVER WALKED ON THE SEA?
This bay, which is unique in the world, continues to surprise visitors thanks to its natural formation. A sand road starts from the west of the coast and extends to the middle of the bay. Water only licks the heels of those walking on the road. Thus, the interesting walk that starts from the shore continues uninterrupted until the middle of the bay. With this feature, Orhaniye, as a natural harbor, has welcomed boats from past to present.
THE LEGEND OF KIZKUM
In Orhaniye Bay, there is a sand road that starts from the western shore of the bay and ends near the opposite shore. Various legends are told about the formation of this road, which also serves as a natural breakwater. Once upon a time, there was a very beautiful girl living in the village. This girl was in love with a young man living on the opposite shore. However, her family wanted her to marry the son of a rich landowner. On the night of their wedding, the girl wanted to run away to her lover.
When he came to the beach (the point where today’s sand road begins), he sprinkled the sand on his skirt and started to make a path for himself in the sea towards the opposite shore. However, when the village people heard that the bride had run away, they went after the girl and found her running on the sand road she made on the sea. Finally, the sand on the girl’s skirt ran out, and before she reached the opposite shore, she was shot by the village people and died. Later, the people who saw this miraculous road believed in this place.
Since then, this place has been considered auspicious and the village people sometimes come here to pray for rain.
