700 years of advice given by Sheikh Edeb-Ali

Below is an article describing the advice given to Osman Bey by the famous Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Edeb-Ali. I liked it very much. It was said almost 700 years ago, but it has never gotten old. Valid for all times.

“There are sons of people who are born at the dawn and die at the evening adhan. Take comfort, my son. You are strong, powerful, intelligent, eloquent, but if you do not know where and how to use them, you will be blown away in the morning wind… Your anger and your ego become one and defeat your mind. May you always be patient, persistent and have your will. The world is not as big as your eyes see.

All the unconquered mysteries, the unknown, the unseen will only come to light with your virtuous virtues.

Count your mothers and ancestors, abundance is with the elders. If you lose your faith in this world, you will become barren when you are green and turn into a desert. Be frank, don’t take every word you say. You saw, don’t tell, you knew, don’t know. Don’t go to the place you love often, your conversation will not be respected.

Have pity on three people: * The scholar among the ignorant, * The one who became poor while being rich, * The one who lost his reputation while being remembered.

Remember that those who hold high places are not as safe as those below. Do not be afraid of the struggle when you are right.

“You should know that they call the best of a horse TRUE,” “They call the best of a brave man CRAZY.”
