Budapest is the capital of Hungary. In fact, it is the union of the cities of Budapest and Pest on both banks of the Danube on November 17, 1873.
It is the political, cultural, commercial, industrial and export center of Hungary. According to the 2003 census, 1,719,343 people live in Budapest. Most of the museums in Budapest are open between 10:00 and 18:00 in the morning. Entry is allowed until the last 30 minutes. Large museums also provide guide services for the convenience of foreigners.
For those who want to get more detailed information about museums, we recommend the guide book ‘Museums in Budapest’. In our opinion, the best way to explore the surroundings in Budapest is to take boat tours organized separately for each language.
By the way, it would not be a mistake to say that Budapest is the culture and art center of the country. There are more than 30 theaters here. In addition, the Danube Carnival, which was held for the fourth time this year, has the rightful pride of hosting many cultures of the world in Vörösmarty Square. Mihaly Vörösmarty (1800-1855), the famous poet of the romantic poem who gave his name to this square, bears witness to history with his marble statue in the same place.
And a few lines from Vörösmarty to the present day… Remember: You can ride all transportation vehicles for free with your Budapest Card. Additionally, some museums are free for this card holders; In some museums, discounts between 20% and 50% are applied. (Budapest Card is sold for 48 and 72 hours.) We recommend it especially for those who will visit a lot of museums.
