Marmaris – Dalyan Caunos Ancient City / Turkey

In the excavations so far, besides the architectural works, many sculptures, statue bases, coins, amphora, pediment (diadem), ornaments, vases, oil lamps, figures, pottery and pots have been found.

You can reach Kaunos, which is just opposite Dalyan, in 3 ways. The easiest thing is to sail across the shore from the level of the royal tombs. Here, boats owned by Dalyan ladies await and carry passengers across the Dalyan Canal. If you choose this road, you can see the royal tombs closely where you cross. A 10-minute walk takes you to the upper entrance of Kaunos.

The second way is to go by boat to the archaeologists’ house. The upper entrance is reached by a 5-minute walk from here.

The third way is to go by boat to the lower entrance of Kaunos, next to the Dalyan Fisheries Cooperative.
