Bordubet – Marmaris – Resadiye / Turkey

Like a little “Amazon”; Bördübet

The bördübet, known as “Bird the bed” by the British soldiers who were hiding in this bay years ago, gives its name with its mountain pigeon, goldfinch, nightingale, heron birds, hawk and many other types of birds. Bördübet, where the sea intertwines with the forest creates an interesting bay, free from traffic and buildings; It resembles a small “Amazon” with a variety of plants, birds and animals.

Bördübet Cove, located on the Reşadiye peninsula of Marmaris, is a small holiday resort in the village of Hisarönü. Bördübet, located on the side of the peninsula facing the Gulf of Gökova and surrounded by dense forests, has a unique nature like many other bays in the region. Its most important feature is the sea that enters the dense pine forest through a 200-meter-wide and 600-meter-long channel. The sea surrounded by green pine trees creates a perfect view especially for photography enthusiasts. In Bördübet, which is a special environmental protection area, there are also wild animals such as mountain pigeons, goldfinches, nightingales, heron birds, hawks, wild boars, rabbits, squirrels, foxes and badgers. Watching and listening to the birds is free, but if you are going to walk into the forest, do not neglect to consult the local residents.

From “Bird the bed” to Bördübet

Bördübet is a holiday destination that attracts attention with its name as well as its perfect nature. It takes its name from the British who hid in this bay during the war years. Local residents say that the British were surprised by the abundance and diversity of birds and that they called it “Bird the bed”, which means bird bed in Turkish. This name given by the British changed over time and the region started to be known as Bördübet.

In Bördübet, the season starts in May and continues until the end of October. However, in the winter months, the region offers an insatiable holiday for those who want to relax. The most important advantage is that it is shady and cool even on the hottest days of August, as it is a forested area. The only facility in Bördübet is Club Amazon. The regulars of the Club, which was opened in 1980, are mostly foreign tourists who are devoted to caravan tourism and those who love nature and tranquility.
