Antalya Ethnography Museum is located in Kaleiçi, the touristic area of Antalya city center, in Muratpaşa district. The museum was created by arranging two historical mansions with architectural features from the Ottoman period. These two mansions, dating back to the 19th century, are located on a sloping area and therefore they are called Alt Konak and Upper Konak.
Turkish-Islamic Works are generally exhibited in Alt Konak. On the first floor of the mansion, Seljuk tile covering pieces and Ottoman period tiles coming from the Aspendos Theater, which was turned into a winter palace during the Seljuk period; 16-20. ceramics produced in Iznik, Kütahya and Çanakkale between the centuries; Gas lamps made of glass, tulip holders, rose holders and sherbet bowls are exhibited. On the same floor, there is another section where objects unearthed during the excavations in Kaleiçi are exhibited. On the second floor, there is an exhibition of Ottoman period weapons such as arrows, bows, spears, swords, capsule and flintlock pistols and rifles, gunpowder containers and oil canisters, medals and insignia, seals, hamayli, vefk and chain watches. Examples of calligraphy such as hilye and icazetname are also exhibited on this floor.
In the Upper Konak, room arrangements reflecting the domestic life of Antalya in the Ottoman period, as well as items and architectural pieces used in the same period are exhibited. On the first floor of the mansion, Ottoman period wooden ceilings, doors, window sashes, door knockers and keys; There is an exhibition of weaving samples such as saddlebags, sacks, spindles, rugs and local musical instruments. In addition, Döşemealtı carpets, which are unique weaves of the Antalya region, a weaving loom and different weaving samples, as well as a small recreation of Antalya Cuisine from the Ottoman period, are also located on this floor. On the second floor of the mansion, there is the main room where guests are hosted, reviving the Ottoman period Kaleiçi home life, the living room, which was shaped as a dining-sitting room in line with the needs of the household during the day, a bedroom and a bathroom. On this floor, there are also examples of clothing reflecting the culture of the Ottoman period and a display of coffee culture.
In the garden display, the Seljuk Zodiac Inscription, dating back to the 13th century, and the conquest inscriptions of the Seljuk period appear as original works. Other garden works include Ottoman period inscriptions, tombstones, cannons and cannonballs.
Antalya Ethnography Museum Visiting Hours: Entrance to the museum, which is open every day of the week, is free and visiting hours vary during summer and winter periods.
