Evdir Han – Places to Visit – Antalya

Evdir Han, a Seljuk work, is in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya. According to its inscription, which does not exist today, it is known that it was built in the early 13th century, during the time of Izzeddin Keykavus Bin Keyhusrev I.

The inn has a rectangular plan, almost square, measuring 67×55 meters. All of the main walls are cut stone, and the upper cover is rubble stone. The crown gate of the building, which is in the group of four-iwan inns, is particularly striking. The upper two corners of the door, which protrudes from the main wall, have been demolished. There is a thin border on the outside, and inside it is a thick border row of stars opening to infinity. The upper parts of these two have disappeared. The third border row consists of geometric shapes. The door is shaped as if its pointed arch is supported by small columns. There is a small mihrabiye on both side walls of the niche that continues inside. The upper part of the portal niche is filled with muqarnas and the door is terminated with a low arch.

Around the inner courtyard of the inn, there are porticos with cut stone braid and pointed arches, resting on thick cut stone pillars. The tops of all four iwans are covered with pointed barrel vaults. There are cells in the form of closed spaces opening to porticoes.
