Karain Cave is located within the borders of Yağca village, 30 kilometers northwest of Antalya, 5-6 kilometers away from the old Antalya-Burdur highway. To reach the entrance of the cave, you need to climb 470 steps from the visitor reception point.

Karain Cave, which is among the largest natural caves in Türkiye, is 150 meters above the travertine plain in front of it and 430-450 meters above the sea.

The cave has been continuously inhabited by people, starting from the Lower Paleolithic, Middle and Upper Paleolithic phases, Prehistoric ages such as Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Old Bronze Age and the Classical Age. As a natural result of this, it contains a thick cultural deposit reaching approximately eleven meters.

However, the longest and most important settlement of the cave took place during the Paleolithic (Chibblestone) period. There are Greek inscriptions and niches on the forehead and outer walls of the cave, which is mostly used as a votive cave (temple). Archaeological findings obtained during the excavations in the Karain Cave are exhibited in the Antalya Museum and the Karain Museum located in the immediate vicinity of the cave.
Karain Cave, which is recommended as a world heritage due to its natural and cultural features along with the other caves around it, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since 1994.
