Marmaris – ORHANİYE – KIZKUMU BEACH / Turkey

Orhaniye is only 2.5 km from Turgut. The road divides into two after Turgut. It is necessary to continue to the right for Orhaniye and to the left for Selimiye. One of the most important tourism centers on the shore of Hisarönü Bay is Orhaniye. Yachts that come to the Hisarönü Gulf always spend the night in Orhaniye. In Orhaniye, the sea is always like a sheet. The color of the surrounding pine forest has hit the water, and the sea has a color unique to it. The environment is so calm that when you immerse yourself in the water, you will not hear anything but the sound you make while swimming.

HAVE YOU EVER WALKED OVER THE SEA?

This bay, which is unique in the world, continues to surprise the visitors thanks to its natural formation. A sand road starting from the west side of the coast extends to the middle of the bay. The water just licks the heels of the walkers on the road. Thus, the interesting walk starting from the shore continues uninterruptedly until the middle of the bay. With this feature, Orhaniye has embraced boats from the past to the present as a natural harbor.

GIRLS LEGEND

In Orhaniye Bay, there is a sand road starting from the west coast of the bay and ending close to the opposite shore. Various legends are told about the formation of this road, which also serves as a natural breakwater. He was in love with a young man, but his family wanted to marry him to the son of a rich agha. On the night of their wedding, the girl wanted to escape to her beloved. When he came to the beach (where the sand road today started), he started to make a road towards the opposite shore in the sea by sprinkling the sand he filled on his skirt. However, the people of the village, who heard that the bride had run away, chased the girl and found her running on the sand road she had built on the sea. Finally, the sand on the skirt of the girl was finished, before reaching the opposite shore, she was shot by the people of the village and died. The people who saw this miraculous road later believed for the sake of this place. Since then, this place has been considered auspicious and the villagers sometimes come here to pray for rain.
