The library, which is Turkey’s first tourism and travel library, is located in the Side neighborhood of Manavgat district, one of the popular tourism centers of Antalya. It was opened to service in 2023 after the ancient building, known as Yağhane, was restored and converted into a library building because it was used as an olive oil workshop in the early years of the Republic period.
Side Tourism and Travel Library mainly contains tourism and travel books, travel guides, scientific works on tourism and travel, and translations of respected works of Turkish literature. The works in the Side Tourism and Travel Library are selected especially from books in foreign languages that describe Turkey’s cultural heritage and art. Thus, it is aimed to create an archive regarding tourism and travel and to ensure that guests staying in hotels in Side and its surroundings have a pleasant time in the library located on the ancient city axis.
The furniture of the library, which attracts the attention of local and foreign guests because it is located in the Side Ancient City, is prepared in accordance with the nature of the ancient building, so users who come to the library can take a short tour inside the building. Additionally, historical objects used in oil extraction are exhibited inside the library building.
