Rafting
Nowadays, when nature-oriented tourism activities increase, nature sports are gaining importance. Rafting is gaining importance as one of the sports where the most gentlemanly competitions are held. For centuries, people have been fascinated by the rivers flowing around them, taking them to the beauty and source of life. Today, he needs to challenge his enthusiasm and confront nature with his helpless body and mind.
The birth of rafting undoubtedly begins with man’s first discovery of flooded rivers. Nowadays, rafting is a very popular sport in the west of the world.
This sport is done in fast flowing rivers with 8 or 12 people. The athletes’ only protection is a life jacket and helmet to combat the natural world. Despite all the difficulties, it is a great pleasure to reach the end of the battle with the river. Rafting on a naturally guided river is the greatest experience one can gain in rafting. Many rivers in Turkey are very suitable for rafting and canoeing.
Köprüçay, Manavgat and Dragon rivers are perfect routes for Hell Water raffing in the Mediterranean. Rafting is an environmentally friendly sport that does not harm nature. The sport of great adventures and excitement…
Antalya Köprüçay
Köprüçay, which originates from the Taurus Mountains and passes through natural wonder canyons, flows into the Mediterranean from the south of Serik. Köprüçay, fed by underground waters in canyons that are steep on both sides and almost impossible to climb, constitutes one of the most beautiful natural recreation areas in Turkey.
In addition, many archaeological resources such as the historical city of Selge (Zerk) located in the mountainous land to the west of the river, riverside castles, aqueducts, bridges from the Roman period and historical roads increase the importance of Köprülü canyon.
To reach Köprüçay, you go from Antalya to Serik and then to TAĞIL and Beşkonak. From Manavgat direction, you can reach Beşkonak via TAĞIL. The road is asphalt until Beşkonak village and follows the Köprüçay River from time to time.
Köprülü Canyon National Park has an area of 36 thousand hectares and includes a part of Köprüçay and the historical city of Selge. In addition to being the largest Mediterranean cypress forest in our country, the national park is also rich in wildlife with red glass, larch, cedar, fir, oak varieties and wild olive groves. There are fallow deer, wild goat, wild boar, bear, wolf, fox, rabbit and various bird species.
Red spotted trout lives in the upper parts of Köprüçay, and mullet lives in the other parts.
track
Approximately 100 m from Oluk Bridge. Starting from the area at the bottom, where the water is stagnant and the river forms a pocket, you reach Oluk Bridge by heading against the current, especially for amateurs to adapt to the rowing technique. Amateurs can generally start the course from Oluk Bridge, while professionals can start the course by entering the canyon from the waterfall near the starting point or from Oluk Bridge and turning back further, if they wish.
The track, which continues after the waterfall located just below the starting point, has a difficulty level of 2-3. Waterfalls, which are frequently encountered along the track, add excitement to the track in addition to the beautiful landscape they create.
Approximately 10 km. After a long journey, you reach the concrete bridge beyond Beşkonak. For amateur athletes, it is recommended that the course be completed just before the concrete bridge. However, professional athletes can enter the first canyon after the concrete bridge. The second canyon should never be entered. The stream from this canyon disappears under the rocks in some parts and emerges again a little later. Approximately 3 km.
At the end of the first canyon, you can reach the asphalt road by walking on the left.
Antalya Manavgat Stream
90 km from the eastern slopes of the Western Taurus Mountains. The long Manavgat stream passes over the hard conglomerate layers before entering the plain and flows into the Mediterranean, forming the Manavgat waterfall. The flow of the Manavgat stream, whose water becomes clear in the spring months and is fed by the groundwater in the canyons it passes through, is cut off by the Oymapınar dam.
To reach the rafting starting point of the Manavgat Stream, drive 10 km before the Manavgat – Alanya highway. turning east, then north towards Akseki. 4 km from Akseki. After turning towards Kala İbradı, Şahap bridge is reached at the 11th kilometer. This is the starting point for rafting.
The area around Manavgat Stream is a region that allows for rich types of tourism. Altınbeşik cave is worth seeing with its lakes, stalactites and stalagmites. The surroundings of İbradı and Ormana settlements are suitable for mountain biking, trekking and paragliding. There are wild goats, wild boars, rabbits, partridges and various bird species in the region.
track
The flow rate of water is important for the starting point of the Manavgat Stream. In months when the water flow is suitable, rafting can be done around the Şahap bridge near İbradı. Manavgat River, which has a high degree of difficulty, can be dangerous for amateur groups. It should be done together with professional athletes and with a local guide. For rafting, 19 km between Şahap bridge and Sevinç village.
It continues through canyons that are steep and difficult to cross on both sides.
1. Canyon: In the first canyon between Şahap Bridge and Altınbeşik Cave, 500 m from the beginning of the canyon. The underground waters, which will later be called “Yedipınar”, increase the flow rate of the stream and add excitement to the course. Athletes who do not want to enter the second canyon can go ashore around Altınbeşik cave. From here, it is possible to reach the villages of Ürünlü in the west and Menteşbey in the east by following the paths.
2nd Canyon: The second canyon can be reached from Altınbeşik cave. This canyon, consisting of impassable steep cliffs, continues until Sinanhoca village. At the end of the canyon, the tea bed expands. Athletes who wish can take a break around this village or finish the track. One of the waterfalls located towards the end of the second canyon before coming to Sinanhoca village is quite dangerous.
The water continues its way by passing under, to the right and to the left of a large rock. In this dangerous area, you should definitely cross the coast.
3rd Canyon: After Sinanhoca village, the third canyon is reached. After passing a few waterfalls, the canyon is exited around Sevinç village and the track on the Manavgat stream is completed.
This track, which includes three canyons, passes through waterfalls and sometimes waterfalls with difficulty levels of 3-4-5. When the roar of the waterfalls is heard, it is necessary to approach the shore and determine the appropriate crossing point. In cases where it is not possible to pass, the canoe is carried by land or after the athlete comes to the shore, the canoe is guided with the help of a rope tied to the canoe in the river and the course continues after the dangerous part is overcome.
Since the flow rate of the Manavgat stream slows down between these transitions, athletes can watch the environment. While traveling through canyons, the sun may not be visible from time to time, even at noon. During the breaks at suitable points for rest, the beauty of the untouched nature around and the foaming of the spring waters in the canyons mixing with the stream will remain in memories for a long time.
If the flow of water in the Şahap Bridge area seems insufficient to do this sport, the necessary materials can be moved from Ürünlü village to the vicinity of Altınbeşik cave and the course can be started from there.

horse riding
Horsemanship can be briefly defined as the skill of riding a horse. The history of horseback riding dates back to ancient times. Those who left their mark on the history of equestrianism are perhaps the mounted soldiers, also called cavalry, who played an important role in wars. It is known that the Chinese established the first cavalry units in 2600 BC. But the real development in horsemanship took place after the invention of the saddle in the 5th century.
Previously, people would ride on the back of a naked horse or sit on the horse with a rug and blanket thrown over it. Today, while riding for military purposes has declined, riding for sports purposes has gained importance. There are two primary forms of horsemanship: English and Western riding. English horse riding is riding done for sport. Western riding is the riding specific to cattle herders called cowboys in the Americas.
Side-Manavgat region has very suitable areas for doing this sport.
