


When you climb the 15-kilometer road, three kilometers of which is asphalt, located in the middle of Köyceğiz’s two exits to the main road, you arrive at Yayla (Ağla), one of the popular plateau villages. The village is at an altitude of 800 meters. It is famous for its surrounding forests and ice-cold spring waters. The most expensive wooden plateau houses of the Köyceğiz region were built in this beautiful place.
There are recreation areas in Ağla Acılık area. Giant plane trees, the youngest of which is 600 years old, are the most typical feature of the region.
A country restaurant serves in Ağla village square, decorated with weeping willows, plane trees and roses.

In addition to options that can be found everywhere, such as roasted fish and trout, there are also local foods. “Borana” is one of them. After the peppers and eggplants are fried, village yoghurt with garlic is poured over it, chili peppers are sprinkled and melted butter is added; Mallow, poppy, radish and purslane are served boiled or roasted. You can also eat sour chicken boiled with garlic and baked in the oven.

You can continue your journey towards the summit of Sandras Mountain, at an altitude of 2294 meters. The road is bad. While climbing towards the summit, you will see Dikenliova, where Gökçeova springs are located.
You will come across an artificial lake at the foot of Altın Sivrisi hill. This is Gökçeova pond. It covers an area of 50 acres.
The lake, surrounded by barbed wire, is used as a water reservoir for forest fires.
You continue the ascent and reach Kartal Lake at an altitude of 2000 meters. The exit takes about 2 hours after Ağla village. You can have a picnic in the region, which is covered with snow for 6 months of the year. Fresh air makes you forget about road fatigue. The lake surroundings are covered with hyacinths, daisies and other mountain flowers.
Kartal Lake hosts the “Mahya and Çiçekbaba Festivals” every year on the 3rd Thursday of August, attended by hundreds of people. Sheep and kids are slaughtered, cooked in ovens, folklore shows and other events are held.
Those who trust their breath and legs and can climb the 2041-altitude Altınsivri hill above the Gökçeova pond will have the chance to watch a view extending all the way to the Gökova Gulf in good weather.

Winter camp for climbers
Göllü Mountains, where Çiçekbaba-Sandras, Altınsivisi and Beşparmak peaks are located, offer very suitable options for winter sports and mountain climbers.
The Mountaineering Federation has also been opening Winter Training Camps in the region for the last three years. Climbers coming from various regions of Turkey have the opportunity to get to know the Gölgeli mountains with their peaks of various heights. Those who want to come to the region can establish relationships with athletes from the Muğla Nature Sports Club.
In the winter months, starting from December, it is possible to drive a distance of 10 km after Yayla (Ağla) village. Between January and April, the region is covered with snow. Off-road vehicle may be required. Climbers who will climb Altınsivri and Çiçekbaba summits walk among the pines for 1.5 hours after reaching the point where they can be reached by vehicle. This is a pleasant walk. Camp is set up on the plain just below Altınsivri hill, and the summit hike begins in the morning.
You can climb to Altınsivri peak in 1 hour and Çiçekbaba peak in 2.5 hours. Those who know touring skiing can also benefit from other tracks.
