Most tourists arriving at the airport go to the beach areas of Kuta, Sanur, Jimbaran and Nusa Dua; They tend towards isolated tourist settlements with their numerous hotels, shopping stores and, of course, white beaches. Nusa Dua appeals to tourists who want a quieter holiday with all the comfort and convenience it offers. Kuta, on the other hand, attracts customers with its extraordinary sunset views, surfing and lively nightlife.
With its shops, restaurants, pubs and discotheques, Kuta is a hub for young people who gather together and dance until the dawn. Jimbaran Bay is another spot where you can watch the sunset and is famous for its seafood that can be eaten on the beach. The water here is calmer than Kuta’s and safer for children. Those with quieter tastes prefer the slow surf and quiet nights on Sanur Beach.
The center of the city, Denpasar, is the traffic and trade center. Visitors enjoy seeing Pasar Badung. Pura Jagatnatha Temple, Bird Market, Bali State Museum reflecting Balinese culture, Taman Werdi Budaya Art Center and Performance Art College are also located in this region. If you go to Jalan Hasanuddin and Jalan Sulawesi by ship to shop, you will see the gold shops of both.
Textile products are also sold on the last street. For low-priced clothing, you should check out the Ramayana or Matahari sections at Tiara Dewata.
As you move north of Denpasar, you will come across Batubulan, which passes through many art towns. Batubulan, the place for real antiques, is a store currently taking orders for high quality reproductions. You can also see pumice carved statues and watch barong dances here. Bali Bird Park offers an educational and colorful journey with its tropical birds and komodo dragon collection.
In the next settlement, Celuk, there are numerous silver and gold retailers such as Melati Art Store and Puspa Mega. Pasar Seni Sukawati Art Center is a good place to buy wood carvings, textiles, oil paintings and other crafts at bargain prices. Traditional Balinese paintings are popular in Batuan town. The artistic quality of this place is high and the ancient gambuh drama dance is often entertaining. Many visitors come here to appreciate the wood carvings at other art shops like Dewata.
Mas, a wood carving center further north, has the wood carver Ida Bagus Tilem in its display case in the Tilem Fine Arts Gallery and has preserved the engraver Ida Bagus Anom among others.
Ubud, once a dormant artists’ colony, has been transformed into a tourist resort. It awaits culture enthusiasts here with its performances every night and at least three main museums.
The Seniwati Women’s Art Gallery and the Pura Taman Saraswati Temple on the main street are located together. A quick stroll to Pejeng outside Ubud reveals countless antiques, including the incredible reliefs of Yeh Pulu and many temples such as Goa Gaja, Pura Penataran Sasih, Pura Kebo Edan, Pura Samuan Tiga, Pura Pusering Jagat and Pura Agung Batan Bingin. While passing through Bangli, stop and look at Pura Kehen and the ancient trees around it. One of Bali’s most magnificent temples, Pura Ulun Danu Batur overlooks Mount Batur and has breathtaking views of Lake Batur.

Bali’s most prominent terraced rice fields are located in Karangasem, Sidemen Valley.
Located on Mount Agung, the grand Pura Besakih offers stunning views. Many tourists also revere ancient villages such as Tenganan Pegringsingan, which has wall carvings of geringsing with sacred robes and tightly woven baskets. In Amed, a small fishing settlement in the north, brightly colored fish move through the sea.
In the underdeveloped Tabanan King’s Regency, you can see nothing but rice fields for miles. Excellent scenery characterizes Jatiluwih Town. Pura Batu Karu mountainous region is famous for its vanilla coffee. This is a cool place due to the high sea level.
The area around Lake Bratan has many notable attractions: Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, Pasar Candi Kuning (fruit and spice market) and Bali Botanical Gardens.
