From AD 1877, competition started with the Bandırma district because on this date Bandırma became a district governorship center and the directorates were shared. Erdek was attached to Bandırma in 1926 and took the form of an accident in 1928. The district was invaded by the Greeks in 1918 and was liberated from the occupation on September 18, 1922 by the Turkish army under the command of Halit Pasha.

They are popular summer resorts of settlements such as Erdek, Bandırma, Susurluk and Bursa. The forested inner regions of the nearby Kapıdağ also attract attention and are used for nature tourism. There are virgin villages in Kapidag where Western Thrace immigrants and Pomak Turks live. Before the Republic, Kapıdağ region is one of the most densely populated places in Anatolia. The ancient city of Kyzikos and the ruins of Daskyleion are exhibited in Bandırma Archeology Museum. In the museum, tomb steles with antemion and frig inscriptions bearing the characteristics of Anatolian Persian art unique to Daskyleion, Persian influenced terracotta vessels unearthed during excavations and tomb steles obtained from the ancient Kyzikos itself and the surrounding are exhibited. Erdek is 10-12 km. It is known that the first inhabitants of the city of Kyzikos (Kizikos), located outside the city and where the great civilization lived, were Dolions and the founder of the city was King Kyzikos. We can list the remaining and known historical architectural riches from Kyzikos as follows; Hadrianus temple, Kyzikos Amphitheater, Altıköşe towers, Bouleuterion, the temple built by the sons of Apoolonis, Queen of Pergamon, Kirazlı Yayla Monastery Culture and Art events have been held in the district since 1990 under the name of “Erdek Festivities”.
Since 1959, Turkey Erdek’te who pioneered the tourism movement, has one of the most beautiful coastlines and sandy beaches of our country. 12 km. There are touristic hotels, motels and recreational facilities on the long coastline.
