Castle: Marmaris Castle was built on a high hill by the sea in Kemeraltı district. Herodotus writes that the first castle was built by the Ionians in 334 BC. Alexander, who conquered the castle, had this important castle repaired. The castle, which was destroyed by the destruction of years and various events, was repaired together with its port by Menteşe Bey İbrahim Bey, and later by the ruler of Marmaris, Gazi Ahmet Bey. It is an elegant square planned building.
