Evliya Çelebi mentioned that although the name of Seferihisar was Sivrihisar in the 17th century, there was no fortress here, and the rocks rising in the vineyards resemble fortresses. He described the town as having 4 neighborhoods, 1200 houses with gardens, baths, 7 fountains, and 20 shops in the bazaar, with abundant products and rich people.

Thermal Spring and Hot Water Resources:

Among the many hot water springs within the borders of our town, the main places with thermal spring status are the springs known as Karakoç and Cumalı Thermal Springs, Uyuz, Ahmetçi Baths, Gelinboğan and Hamamönü Thermal Springs.

Karakoç Thermal Springs:

The thermal springs, located on today’s Old Kavakdere-Ürkmez road, are 15 meters above sea level and were very famous during the Hellenistic Roman and Byzantine periods. The radioactivity of the main source feeding the Karakoç Thermal Spring is 9.5 eman, mud water 4.7 eman, and Nevazil water 8.7 and 6.2 eman. Cıvıt Castle (Double Castle):

The castle, built by Aydınoğulları Bey Cüneyt on a small islet in the sea in the western part of our town, was at its strongest during the Ottoman period, during the reign of Sultan II. He lived during the reign of Murat. The castle is now completely ruined.

There is no railway line passing through the district territory, the nearest stations are in Izmir city center (45 km) and Adnan Menderes Airport (40 km).

While the district does not have a port for passenger and cargo transportation on the seashore, there is a fishing shelter in Sığacık, and the construction of a marina with a capacity of 400 yachts in Sığacık is ongoing.
