


It is a known fact that the homeland of wine is Anatolia. Wine production was made in Anatolia in 3,000 BC. The amphorae found in the excavations in Murefte, Hoşköy and Gaziköy also give the clues that this region is the first wine production region in Anatolia.
Between 1650 and 1900, wines produced in this region were exported to Europe. The dense Greek population in Murefte ensured the quality of the soil structure wines suitable for viticulture. Wines were exported by ships by sea transport.
Wine stores left over from the Greeks who migrated from Murefte with the exchange were maintained by local operators. Doluca Wines, which take its name from the highest hill of the region for today, are produced in Murefte and have become a world-renowned brand.
As of 2008, there are 26 large and small wine enterprises in Murefte such as Kutman Winery, Vineyard Winery, Aral Winery, I.Oral Winery, Koçer Winery, Game Winery, Uygar Winery, Aker Winery, Sevilen, Hastürk Winery, Rivet Winery, Ganos Winery in addition to Doluca.
White grapes; Semilyon, Yapıncak, red grapes; Gamay, Şensu, Papazkarı grapes take the lead in the region. Recently, there has been a tendency towards other grape varieties such as Kabarnet and Merlot, and the wines made from these grapes are probably on the shelves.
