Katmer Recipe and How to Make It – Afyonkarahisar

What are Katmer Materials? 640 g flour 220 g oil 50 g tallow 1 teaspoon of salt 250 g poppy seeds

How It Is Made

Tallow is added into the oil and heated until it melts. Mix the poppy seeds with some oil and set aside. A dough as soft as an earlobe is prepared by mixing flour, salt and warm water. It is covered with a wet cloth and left to rest. Large balls are made from the rested dough. Each meringue is rolled out larger with the help of baklava. The prepared oil and poppy seed mixture is spread on it. The dough is rolled and cut into small pieces. The resulting pieces are rolled out with a rolling pin to a diameter of approximately 30-35 cm. Cook on a hot sheet or in a teflon pan, turning both sides and lightly oiling, until golden brown. It is served hot.
