Atatürk was a positive man. In all his life he was never seen to give in to negativity; he set his will to every task with unshakeable determination. In the years of the War of Independence, just as he was about to begin the struggle, he was met by negative currents that could break anyone’s resolve and zeal. With the homeland under occupation on every side, he revealed the great height of his morale and motivation in a single sentence: “They will leave the way they came.” Those words show both his positive outlook and his iron resolve.

And when doubt was laid before him, his answers never wavered:

“Pasha, there is no army!” they said.
“One will be raised,” he replied.

“Pasha, there is no money!” they said.
“It will be found,” he replied.

“Pasha, the enemy is vast!” they said.
“It will be overcome,” he replied.
