Damlataş Cave is located on the seaside of Alanya district of Antalya province and is the first cave opened to tourism in Turkey. The cave was discovered in 1948 as a result of a dynamite explosion during a quarry for stone during the construction of the port. The cave took its name from the drops of water dripping and continuing to drip from the stalactites.
One of the most important features of the cave, in addition to its beauty, is that its weather never changes in summer or winter and is 22 °C, humidity is 95 percent, and constant pressure is 760 mm. The air of the cave contains 71 percent nitrogen, 20.5 percent oxygen, 2.5 parts per ten thousand carbon dioxide and some radioactivity. Unlike normal, the air is also good for asthma patients, thanks to 8-10 times more carbon dioxide and high humidity.
There are even patients who come here under the supervision of a doctor and receive treatment for approximately 21 days.
