Netherlands – Amsterdam

Attracting attention with its water canals circulating throughout the city and 17th century architecture, Amsterdam has a structure that can satisfy all kinds of tourists, regardless of history, culture, entertainment or tranquility, holiday preference.

This ancient European capital, with more than a million people at its center, is in the North-Dutch state and is named after the Amstel River, which flows into the North Sea from the south-east of the city. Although Amsterdam is officially the capital city of the Netherlands, the government is in another Dutch city, The Hague, where the queen resides. The state center is Harleem, which also gave its name to the Harlem district in New York.

In Amsterdam, which attracts people from all over the world with its tolerant lifestyle and tolerance, light drugs up to a certain amount are free and prostitution is legal. During this period, the Queen’s Day (Koninginnedag) is celebrated every year on April 30 with various events organized in the city.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, located 15 km south west of the city, is one of the busiest airports in the world. From here, there is a direct train to Amsterdam Central Station. It takes 15 minutes to reach the station located between the old center of the city and the waterfront. For those who take their bikes with them, bicycle paths start 200 meters from the airport exit. Eindhoven Airport and Rotterdam Airport are two other airports in Amsterdam. These are further away from the center of Amsterdam and it is necessary to take the bus to reach the train station.

Amsterdam has remarkable museums such as Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum. The Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House, where the largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings and drawings are located, also attract the attention of art lovers.

Amsterdam is also famous for its world-renowned orchestra, Concertgebouworkest.
