Ingredients
- 1 cup dried okra
- 150 g finely chopped cubed meat
- 1 medium onion
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 3 medium sized tomatoes
- 5 glasses of broth or water Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- Half a teaspoon of black pepper
How It Is Made
Dried okra is boiled. Onion is chopped into cubes. Fry in oil over low heat with the lid closed, stirring occasionally, for 4-5 minutes. Peeled tomatoes are cut into small cubes and added to the onion. The previously boiled meat, broth and salt are added to the mixture and boiled. Boiled okra and lemon juice are added to this boiling mixture. Okra is cooked until it becomes soft. If desired, serve with black pepper sprinkled on top. Note: Okra prepared in this way must be mixed with baklava, kadayıf, etc. It is served after desserts. This is because it is believed that eating okra at the end of a heavy meal facilitates digestion.
