The Mongols, who appeared on the stage of history in the early 1220s under the leadership of Genghis Khan, trampled a wide geography extending from China to Europe under the hooves of their horses within half a century. They inflicted unprecedented forms of brutality in Iran, Azerbaijan, the Caucasus, Anatolia, Dasht-i Qipchak and Eastern Europe. They squandered humanity’s social, political, cultural and civil accumulation dating back hundreds of years.

So much so that during the Mongol invasion, cities were devastated and some were even erased from the map. Nearly 40 million people were murdered and, in parallel, global climate change occurred due to decreasing carbon emissions.
