Information About Kerpe – Kocaeli / Turkey

Kerpe, which is one of the holiday destinations close to Istanbul, is known as Kalpe in history, shown three oars days away from Istanbul, “it was described as an ox horn. Sailors who set off from Italy, brought various goods to Trabzon, merchants who came from Russia or the Silk Road and passed through Kandira always exchange their goods at the same point in Trabzon. On this route, sailors took shelter in Kerpe, the only natural harbor in the Black Sea, in unsuitable conditions of the sea. The only cove of the Black Sea facing west, even if it is stormy, the bay without waves was used as a sheltered harbor. The bay, which does not have an open sea feature, has a sand floor and a depth of 50 meters, it has become a unique beach where even children can swim safely. Last year’s infrastructure work was completed, the septic system in Kerpe was removed, the sewage system was laid, and the purification system was put into service and the sea was made clean. Kerpe is now after the “Blue Flag”.
