What to eat in Kerpe?
They say the fish of the less salty sea are delicious. Local fish is one of the most recommended foods in Kerpe, this charming neighborhood of the Black Sea. Although fish varieties, which offer changes according to the season and even months, cannot be caught due to the fishing ban between 1 May and 1 September, when small nets and angling are free, there is the opportunity to eat fresh local fish that are not shocked every day. They add that in May-June mullet, horse mackerel, turbot, bluefish and bonito in September are insatiable and delicious enough to lick a finger. If the guests do not say anything, the fish are fried in corn flour and presented in golden yellow. For those who prefer the grill, they say that our oak wood barbecue burns all day long. By showing the boats moored on the shore of the restaurant, these tabs call this boat fish. The restaurant’s fried eggplant with sauce called “Mancı” and roasted eggplant with extra virgin oil, finely chopped onion, parsley and dill are popular. Lemon, olive oil, bitter arugula salad with crushed garlic sauce, potato pan, village bread, Kandira’s famous yoghurt, Kandıra cheese, grilled cooking of local animals grazed with thyme are spreading around with the smell of aniseed mixed with the smell of seaweed carried by the wind blowing from the sea. While Karagöz restaurant shows the closeness of guests who come to their homes, they do not charge for tahini halva, tea, coffee or fruit served after the meal. If the guests wish, they can buy Kandira yoghurt and cheese from the restaurant and take them home. Almost all of the village products eaten are made from the ones collected daily from the gardens. Village cheese, home jam, village eggs, village bread, butter and milk are served at an open buffet for those who prefer Karagöz Restaurant for breakfast in Kerpe.
