Shipyard Island

Tersane Island is the largest island in the Fethiye Bay. The winter harbor, which can be reached through a deep channel, is full of the remains of an old shipyard and other structures used especially in the Ottoman period. The other bay, which is suitable for anchoring and sheltered on the east side of the island, is known as the summer port. According to historical sources, the island was inhabited under the name Telandria in the past. This place was one of the safest shelters of sailors in the Gulf of Fethiye during the Byzantine period. Just like in Kaya Village, after the Lausanne Treaty, it was evacuated with the 1922 population exchange, and its residents had to migrate to Greece. Tersane Island is one of the indispensable places of the bay for an overnight and swimming break.
