
What are the ingredients for village flatbread?
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon powdered yeast
Half a glass of warm water
salt
How to Make a Village Base
Mix flour and salt in a deep bowl. Meanwhile, leave the yeast and granulated sugar in warm water for 3 minutes. Continue mixing until the yeast is completely dissolved. Add flour and salt mixture. The resulting dough is left at room temperature, covered, for 1 hour. After the dough swells and reaches its consistency, it is cut into palm-sized pieces. Sprinkle lightly with flour and roll it out to the size of a span with a rolling pin on the counter or bread board. It is cooked up and down, in a large pan or on a sheet pan, over medium heat, without oil, turning constantly. Note: The same process is repeated, a smaller piece of dough is rolled out with a rolling pin, minced meat, cheese and potatoes are added and the flatbread is closed in the shape of a half moon. Minced meat bread called “icli” can also be made.
