
Altınoluk Town, which is known as İDA in Greek mythology, is a charming town established on the southern slopes of Kazdağları and in the north of Edremit Bay, and has gathered rare natural beauties in which blue and green are mixed together.
Altınoluk, which is located on the E-24 highway and is the closest settlement to the Çanakkale border of Balıkesir, is 110 km from Çanakkale, 225 from İzmir, 115 km from Balıkesir, 25 km from the district center Edremit and 35 km from Çanakkale’s Ayvacık district in the west. .
The population of Altınoluk, which covers an area of 22.000 hectares, exceeds 15.000 and the population of Altınoluk increases to over 200.000 in the summer months with the development of tourism.
Our town, known as Antandros in the history, later named Papazlık and after 1927 Altınoluk, became a subdistrict center for 60 years from 1923 to 1983 and remained connected to Edremit district in 1983 with the abolition of the sub-district directorates.
In 1957, at the end of the public vote on whether to establish a municipality in the town or not, the people started their work by establishing a municipality.
