Major Ruins: Main Street and Gates: Approximately 1 km. long city’s wide main street divides the city from one end to the other. There are columned galleries and important public buildings on both sides. There is a monumental door at both ends. Since these gates and most of the street were built during the Roman Period, they are outside the Byzantine city wall. MS.5 in the south. There is the “Southern Byzantine Gate” dated to the 19th century. In the north, on the well-preserved, three-eyed and rounded towers on both sides, there is an inscription in Latin, dedicated to Emperor Domitian. Because of this inscription, it is called the Domitian Gate or the Roman Gate. At the place where the road going south from this gate intersects with the wall, MS. There is the “North Byzantine Gate” dated in the 5th century.
Walls: MS. In the 5th century, it was surrounded by walls in the north, south and east directions. 24 square towers were placed on the walls, most of which are in ruins today. It has 4 entrances, two monumental gates and two small gates. The northern and southern monumental gates open onto the main street.
