On Koh Samui’s quieter northern coast, the old port settlement of Bophut has become the island’s most charming corner. Its Fisherman’s Village is a cluster of restored wooden Chinese-Thai shophouses lining a seafront lane, now home to boutique shops, stylish restaurants and laid-back bars. With far more character than the resort strips, it offers a relaxed, romantic side of Samui.
Old-World Charm by the Sea

Bophut’s narrow main street retains its weathered teak shophouses, painted in soft colours and strung with lights in the evening. The mix of heritage architecture, sea breezes and a slower pace gives the village a distinctive atmosphere, a world away from the busier beaches to the east. It is a lovely place simply to wander and soak up the mood.
The Friday Walking Street

The village truly comes alive at the weekly Friday night market, when the main street fills with food stalls, crafts, clothing and live music. It is one of the best night markets on the island, blending local flavours with a buzzing, sociable atmosphere. Come hungry and graze your way along the lane as the sun sets over the sea.
Dining and Sunsets
Bophut is known for its dining, from beachfront seafood and Thai classics to international cuisine in chic settings. The west-facing bay also delivers gorgeous sunsets, best enjoyed with a drink at one of the shoreline bars. It is an ideal spot for a relaxed evening after a day exploring the island.
With its heritage charm, lively market and beautiful sunsets, Bophut’s Fisherman’s Village is the most atmospheric corner of Koh Samui.
