Susukino is Sapporo’s famous entertainment and dining district, and the city’s stomach. One of Japan’s largest nightlife areas north of Tokyo, it blazes with neon after dark and is the best place to dive into Hokkaido’s outstanding food.
Sapporo Ramen
Sapporo is the birthplace of rich miso ramen, often topped with sweetcorn, butter and local seafood. The narrow Ramen Yokocho alley packs tiny shops side by side, each with its own loyal following; slurping a steaming bowl here on a cold night is a quintessential Sapporo experience.

Hokkaido Specialities
Beyond ramen, Susukino and central Sapporo are the place to try Genghis Khan grilled lamb, the freshest crab and seafood, soup curry and Hokkaido dairy and sweets. The district’s izakaya and bars stay lively late into the night.
Getting There
Susukino is one subway stop from Odori, or an easy walk through the underground arcade. It is busiest and most colourful in the evening.
Susukino feeds and entertains Sapporo. When you are ready to explore further, day trips to Otaru and the Hokkaido countryside await.
