Highland Houses
The fine taste of the Black Sea people can be seen in both the highland houses, village houses and vineyard houses. The houses that are not pretentious, suitable for the purpose and shaped according to the need are generally two-storey, but according to the suitability of the ground, there are also three-storey ones. Almost all of them have huts that are not in contact with the floor, which are called bagen and used as storage. The choice of timber used in the construction of the houses was given importance, especially because of their durability, chestnut wood was used. During the construction of the houses, which are 100 years old, the timber was laid under the snow to release the bitter water of the tree, which is a natural type of firing. Timbers that have been under the snow for a year or two are strengthened with snow water and then they do not rotate or crack under the sun. By releasing the scent of wood into the house, it makes the house livable and ensures a long life.
