Ankara Castle

The castle, thought to be from the Gladians in the 2nd century BC, consists of two parts, the inner and outer castle. The inner castle walls M.S. It was built by the emperor Heraclius in 630, and the Byzantine emperor III in 859 AD. It is known that it was repaired in the time of Michael. It is stated that Ankara Castle, with its current appearance, is from the Seljuk period. The domed structure, which can be reached by leaving the Hisar gate of the castle and turning right down the Gözcü street, is the Ottoman period Bedesten, and it was built between 1464-1471 by Mahmut Pasha, the vizier of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror, and was transformed into a magnificent museum with the arrangement and restoration carried out in the 1960s.
